Valentine Reads

Today I'm sharing two of my favorite love stories (that I can't stop rereading) and the love story I'm reading right now.

Confession: I've read these books so many times I can't even count that high (and I was the class champion of Math Around the World in 3rd grade, so ...)

 1. Jacob Have I Loved

I've talked about this book before here. It's the story of an unloved twin and her struggle to find her place in the world and her own true love. Every time I read this book I cry. Every. Single. Time. Me wanting to be a doctor came in part because Wheeze became a midwife.

 2. The Blue Sword
My obsession with horses and wishing I was 1. red headed 2. tall 3. kidnapped by a tall dark and handsome man with dangerous, fire inducing eyes, are all the fault of Robin McKinley. Also, what's better than a girl called Harry falling for Corlath, the golden-eyed king of the Free Hillfolk? Every time I read about her leaving him to warn the outpost of the oncoming attach my heart breaks knowing Harry lost her sash and that he'll find it. And every time they come together again, I ache, for their not knowing what the other is feeling, and for the moment when finally their love for each other is made clear.

 And my current read...

 Warm Bodies

Yup, I'm reading a Zombie love story for Valentines, all thanks to the generous Ilima Todd. And zombie love, I've gotta tell you, it's getting hot. Maybe I could fall for R myself.

2012 reads that may qualify, but I need a few years to see if I keep picking them up. The Fault in Our Stars and Code Name Verity (I know, a little different, but to me this book is a love story. Plus, when I got to the end I flipped right back to page one and read it all over again, so its already looking good in the rereading category).

 What's your Valentine read?

  1. Right now I'm reading The Truth About Faking by L.T. Moore. Not too far in, but good so far.

I don't re-read books. With maybe only one exception, which would my my all time favorite. But cant think of any others.

    1. I've read this one multiple times as well. Love that story. Katie and I got to hear Nancy Turner speak at the Provo Library a few years ago. She was amazing.

  6. Ooh, Emily, I love THESE IS MY WORDS too. L-O-V-E. I'm going to say what I said on Ilima's blog--my favorite Valentine's read is PRIDE & PREJUDICE. You really should read it, Robin! ;-)

  7. Jacob Have I Loved!! Oh my goodness it's been too long. So need to read this again!

I haven't read Warm Bodies yet, but it's at the tippy-top of my TBR list, especially as my family is friends with the author's brother!

  8. Happy belated Valentines, Robin! I've never read Jacob but I've heard so much about it. I need to read it. I started Code Name Verity and the writing is great but I havent been as absorbed with it as I'd hoped. I'm sure I'll finish it at some point tho.

  12. Thanks for sharing your re-reads with us. I have a few favorites, too, that I re-read again and again, but they're spec-fic not romance novels. :-)
