Actual conversation in the theatre with hubby after this Catching Fire preview (Nov. 22nd, guys!)
Hubby: Why do they keep showing that weird sideways roadrunner?
Me: It's not a roadrunner, it's a mockingjay.
Hubby (and birding expert): There is no such thing as mocking jays
Me: Stifled snort. Maybe not in real life, but in The Hunger Games Series they were genetically engineered...and then they became a symbol...
Hubby covers my hand: Shh...okay, I got it.

Needless to say he won't be watching that movie with me;)
In other news:

I'm up on First Impressions again, this time with my MG Life is a Tongue Twister. you can check it out here or here.
I'll be back next week with a guest post by the incredible Jolene Perry and possibly a NaNo update.
How's your November shaping up? Did you use that extra hour this morning to kick some WC bootie?
I've heard good things about Ender's Game so far, although in my mind it would be hard to live up to the book. I also heard rave reviews of Gravity, and I only liked it so-so. It seems to me that a lot of people love visual effects in their movies, where I prefer story. Gravity didn't have a lot of story, and I do worry that Ender's story will be buried under visual effects. Did you think the story was done well?
ReplyDeleteDianne, yes, the story was definitely well done. There were visual effects, of course, but the heart of the story was there, beating strong. I hope you'll try it.
DeleteGlad your NaNo writing is off to a good start. I want to see Enders Game though we may wait and rent it.
ReplyDeleteThat conversation is so Stan. Bryce ruined the first Hunger Games movie for me. I'll have to watch that movie with someone else as well.
ReplyDeleteI want to see Ender's Game, too, AND the Hunger Games :) Congrats to your sister!
